BERRY COTTAGE, CROMDALE, NEAR GRANTOWN ON SPEY

Berry Cottage is an architecturally designed detached luxury cottage within part of the Battle of Cromdale site situated at the foot of the Cromdale Hills.   Set within the amazing, wild and wonderful Cairngorm National Park.  It has two bedrooms, with one en-suite comprising walk- in shower, basin and toilet.  Both rooms can either be with single beds or super king size bed. There is also a family shower room.

There is a large master bathroom with large walk-in shower.

The amazing vaulted ceiling in the living room is simple yet stunning and with the woodburning stove gives a lovely homely feeling.

The open plan kitchen, dining and living area is bright and spacious. The kitchen and utility rooms have a washing machine, dishwasher, ovens and hob and a large fridge freezer.

There are patio doors leading from the dining room into the garden in this beautiful rural location.

On-site parking for at least 2 vehicles within grounds of cottage. Disabled access has been carefully designed.

Local Area

The area is a walker’s paradise.  The separate utility room is ideal for boots and coats after you have taken one of the many walks within the surrounding area.

There is the Spey Side Way, the Piper Stone or into the Cromdale Hills – all of which are on the doorstep.

The cottage is near the River Spey.   So, for any keen anglers you can purchase your permits at Mortimers on Grantown High Street.

Loch Ness is a short drive away.  Take a boat trip and walk along the side – you may just catch a glimpse of the Monster!

Balmoral Castle, The Queen’s Scottish home, is not that far away and the drive there and back is stunning.

Within Cromdale you can visit the Caorunn Gin Distillery pronounced Ka-roon.  You can take a tour round the Distillery.  There has been a distillery on this site for a very long time.  On your way to distillery you can see the old distillery houses.  Now lived in to make up the vibrant community of Balmenach.  Caorunn Gin is made by infusing 5 locally foraged Celtic botanicals in the world’s only working Copper Berry Chamber.

Cromdale sits at the heart of the whisky distillery tour.  The new and award winning McCallan distillery is only 20 minutes away.  This distillery has undergone a transformation and the new visitor centre is now open.

Also 15 minutes away is Ballindalloch Castle.  This is a stunning family Castle and is worth a day out.

You could always just choose to sit at the large living room windows and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the cottage!

There is an abundance of golf courses in the area.

Loch Garten is an RSPB nature reserve where you can watch the ospreys in their nests.  It has been known to see Ospreys, Golden Eagles and Red Kites around Cromdale.

Visit the reindeer at the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre on your way to the Aviemore ski slopes.

Landmark Forest Adventure Park is in nearby Carrbridge.  Great fun for the kids and adults too.

You can visit with Hamish – the beautiful baby polar bear – at The Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig.  And there is so much more to see and do in the area.

You can also visit Baxters or Brodie Country Fare and Elgin is a short distance away but worth a potter around.  Lossiemouth has a stunning beach to walk along.

Berry Cottage is an exceptional and breathtaking place to stay in. We were so blown away with the open space floor plan, the tall windows that allowed for so much natural light and the breathtaking views of the highland mountains that you wake up and sleep to. We really enjoyed our stay at this home and so fortunate that the owner opened his home to us. The owner was also so responsive when we needed help and solved the problem the same day. We hope to stay here every time we visit my sister in Grantown-on-Spey. This home made our whole family experience so memorable in Scotland! Thank you! We highly recommend!!! -Jazylette

When we booked this it looked very well appointed and very good quality. When we arrived we were not disappointed. Would loved to have made use of the log burner but delighted that we had 6 out of 7 days with strong sunshine. Did some walks in the local area and down by the river, fabulous place. The village is a bit isolated and you would need your own transport having said that a small price to pay for such a super week in super accommodation. Would highly recommend.

This delightful cottage comes with everything you will need ( and some fab stuff you'll just gawp at) for a comfortable and peaceful stay in the Highlands. Berry cottage has the added bonus of 360degree views of the Highlands and super convenient for all the amenities that the Cairngorms National park has to offer. Surrounded by flat grass lawns and a large parking area with double gates the Cottage is really self contained and not overlooked. This will be our third year at Berry Cottage and are really looking forward to it.
