Heron Cottage is a lovely semi-detached two-bedroom cottage situated on the amazing Aultmore Estate.  It occupies an elevated position on the estate, enjoying views of the grounds and magnificent Cairngorm mountains.

The ground floor contains an open and spacious arrangement of living, dining, and kitchen which is fully equipped to make you feel completely at home, whilst also giving the designated chef of your group the freedom to chat and socialise while cooking the evening meal. You will find a flat screen TV with basic cable service, DVD and CD player and WiFi for your use.  A toilet/washroom adds to the convenience.

On the first floor are two clean and comfortable bedrooms, one of which has a king-size bed and the other has twin beds. In addition, there is also a welcoming bathroom containing a bath, shower, and toilet.

Parking is adjacent to the cottage.

Local Area

Aultmore Estate is situated within the spectacular Cairngorm National Park in the Scottish Highlands, surrounded by mature forest and breathtaking views of the Cairngorm Mountains.  Hiking, biking, fishing, and skiing are some the the recreational opportunities readily available.  The Whisky Trail begins a short distance away; castles dot the countryside, and yet there are spaces within the twenty-five acre grounds for quiet contemplation.

The River Spey is only one mile away and is one of Scotland's prime fishing rivers.  Cairngorm ski area is fifteen miles away and there are several golf courses nearby.  The area is famed for its bird life, with ospreys nesting close-by and the rare capercaillie resident in the adjacent woods.  Shops and restaurants abound in Aviemore, just twelve miles away, although one might want to stop in the bar at Nethy Bridge Hotel or Grantown on Spey for a touch of local flavour.

We are delighted with our experience in Heron cottage. It was very peaceful, and Staff were very responsive and quickly addressed our needs. Walking around the area was most enjoyable, there were plenty of walks of various lengths! And it was lovely the dog was welcome without additional charges

A most charming place with all you need for a holiday in the most beautiful landscape. The forest directly behind the house, many different walks nearby, beautiful views towards the estate and the privilege to feel temporarily at home in those wonderful gardens. Should you still want to watch TV, though, be prepared for very unstable reception of only a few stations. The kitchen is adequately equipped to prepare smaller meals. Bathroom facilities fine, beds wonderful. A place to fall in love with Scotland, as we did.
